Bossip, Are you fucking serious? O.K it’s like this:
I’m perusing the gossip sites, trying to keep up on celebrity current events, which led me to Bossip.com. Now, I started reading Bossip a year or so ago after GQ magazine, yes GQ, did a review of the website and credited it as providing the masses with some much needed coverage of Black Hollywood. Agreed, I think black performers, athletes, singers, all celebrities should be covered as frequently as the rest of American pop culture. I grew tired of only reading about Britney Spears and Victoria Beckham. I respect that they saw a market and a considerable need and jumped on it. Howmuthafuckin’ever, I do not appreciate their systematic and blatant degradation and hatred towards the GLBT community. Now, occasionally, I have come across a straight up homophobic article (yes, headline to the last period…ALL HOMOPHOBIC) and had to correct that ish, leave a comment and set the record straight. And, I’m always glad when I see fellow rational people commenting and letting people know how wrong and hateful certain ideologies about GLBTs can be. Still, the head honchos at Bossip do not give a fuck. They continue to degrade GLBTs, sometimes on a weekly basis, which leads me to this week’s example:
The “Headline” reads: “Where IS My Father?: All Jokes Aside Now… We Have A Problem.” And, if you can’t read the rest, the headline is follwed by “We thought we had seen it all with the white guy dropping it low the other day. Someone decided to let this boy and his feminine ways flourish. We know this kid must not have a father in the home, because no dad would allow this mess…Pop the top and see the problem in our country.”
Really? THIS is the problem in our country? First of ALL the video of this child dancing to Beyonce is OLD boo! C’mon you guys must sit all day in that office and scope the internet, don’t try and sit here and act like you don’t know this shit is 2 years old? Of course you know, but then why drudge it up, slap a hate headline on it and allow a discussion proliferation of hate? Well, it must be to fuel the fire. To fill up your weekly quota of homophobic rants and appease your depressingly ignorant readership (not ALL of them, but unfortunately most).
Bossip, why are you so threatened by homosexuality, even when suggested by a mere child? Tell me? I really want to know. Is it religion? Is it the product of growing up in a hypermasculinized culture, which applauds ANYTHING male, disrespects women and objectifies them, praises violence and has created (ironically) a sub community of down low men? Or is it just a ploy for attention, acceptance from your fan base? Perhaps it’s a cover up, a farce to hide your own homosexuality? I mean c’mon, the way you dish “gossip” with your acerbic disregard for decency and sheer cuntiness must make you a queen!
Regardless, you need to stop. Now…”All Jokes Aside.”
Children are not reared gay. They, scratch that, WE are born this way. I know it must make you cringe and flinch at the mere sight of us, but we don’t become this way out of thin gay air, NO. We are like this out the gate. This video is proof, if anything, that there are queer children. Lots of them and we can have the most macho, Rambo lookin’, catch and football playing, gun tottin’ daddy and still grow up to become big, Beyonce dancing, lisp having queers. It’s nature. Deal with it. There have been PLENTY of studies, which strongly support this reasoning. In fact, it has become the general scientific consensus that gays are born gay, so quit the hateration. On the eve of the National Equality March in Washington, on the night where our first black president sat before the country and said I support GLBTs, why are you on the side of bigotry?
It ain’t cute. Plus, I’m sure your advertisers would agree with us.
Now, I know this is a larger, messier issue, which involves homophobia, racism, cultural viewpoints,religion, group think, fear, education, etc. But as a member of the media (sorry, i couldn’t say that with a str8 face) it’s time to stop dishing hate.
Go to Bossip and make that queerness rain on that comment board!
